Asymmetric
Digital Subscriber Line (aDSL), a modem technology, converts existing
twisted-pair telephone lines into access paths for multimedia and high-speed
data communications. aDSL can transmit up to 6 Mbps to a subscriber, and as
much as 832 kbps or more in both directions.
aDSL is an "always on" service, meaning that as
long as your computer is powered on, it will automatically stay connected to
the Internet unless you manually disconnect via software or hardware. aDSL is
especially suited for gamers, CAD use, streaming multimedia and
downloading large files. aDSL is not available to everyone. DSL providers, or
even your local phone company, can tell you if service is available in your
locale. Speeds will vary depending upon your physical distance from local

A new family of aDSL (asymmetric digital
subscriber line) standards called "aDSL2" adds features and functionality that
boost aDSL's performance, improve interoperability, and support new
applications, services and deployment scenarios. Our highest offer of aDSL2 is
20 meg down and 1 meg up. aDSL2
chipsets can bind two or more copper pairs
on the aDSL link. The result is fiber-like
data rates over existing copper lines.
The aDSL2 standard doubles the maximum
frequency used for downstream data
transmission from 1.1 MHz to 2.2 MHz. This
effectively provides downstream data rates
of 25M bit/sec on phone lines as long as
5,000 feet. This is an attractive option for
businesses that have voice services on

amount of traffic upstream as it can
receive. If you have a 768k circuit,
your speed “to the internet” would
be 768k and your speed “from the
internet” would be 768k.

server, send a lot of information to
the internet such as an

used in a frame relay solution,
